A laser scanner is mounted on a utility vehicle / tractor. Scans from the sensor can be combined to generate a 3D point cloud of the vine canopy. The goal is to automatically and expediently generate measurements of canopy size with precision and accuracy across a vineyard. Vineyard managers can identify vines with inadequate light interception or inefficient soil resource use for remedial management.
